Hello and Happy New Year!

I’m so pleased to be back in the studio in 2025 and working with students of all levels as they continue on their path to achieving their singing goals for the year.

If you’re interested in getting started with some singing lessons, now is an excellent time to start. Singing is proven to be good for mental health, the respiratory system and practicing new techniques and skills can help stave off cognitive decline for those in later years.

I have been a singing teacher in Newcastle and Edinburgh for more than 10 years, and was trained to take in the voice and person as a whole to provide the best singing solutions within a safe and therapeutic practice designed to build confidence and security. Currently I am able to offer more in-person appointments in Newcastle or online sessions for those further afield.

What to expect from your free initial consultation

Our very first meeting will be about getting to know one another, and building trust through a preliminary conversation. We’ll talk about what singing you’ve done so far, whether it’s in the privacy of the shower or in more illustrious venues. From there we might discuss what your aspirations are and identify any barriers to learning that you might face.

Once we’ve settled into each others company, then the real fun starts. We’ll try some scales and exercises to assess a base level, and if you’re feeling comfortable we’ll start to explore some techniques to make the voice stronger. You can read more about the method of teaching here.

At the end of the session I will make a recommendation on some things to be working on in your personal practice and invite you to book in a follow-up session if and when you’re ready for one.

What should I bring?

Please bring some water to sip during the session and something to make notes where necessary (either analogue or digital!). Some students like to record their lessons to listen back to, this can be done with a portable recording device or a phone. Students should declare that they intend to record before making any recordings, and keep recordings for their own personal use only.

What happens next?

After our initial consultation, if we’re happy to work together (I say if - I’ve never turned anyone down yet!) we can start working together on a more regular basis to develop the voice and musical skills in a way that it 100% tailored to individual needs and aspirations. I’m a firm believer that no-one should be barred from accessing musical education because of financial barriers so we’ll have an open discussion to find the most appropriate frequency and duration of lessons for your budget, without compromising on your voice’s developmental needs.

What do lessons cost?

Zualski School of Voice Fees are adjusted annually on April 5th to reflect inflation. Fees at the time of writing are as follows:

Adults: £45/hour

Concessions: £40/hour

Under 18s: £30/hour (younger children will normally have shorter lessons)

Discretionary discounts may be considered on a case by case basis.

How do I sign up?

There are a few ways to get in touch. Contact forms through this website are preferred and there is an application form on the School of Voice Page that’s helpful for me to get a sense of where your at. Otherwise just drop me an email and we’ll take it from there. (Jacob [at] jacobzualski [dot] com).

I have good weekday availability and evening/weekend appointments are given to school aged students and full time employed people as a priority.

Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Many good wishes,

Jake
